It was 1977. I remembered I’ve seen the very first Star Wars movie. That Star Wars movie never had the “A New Hope” episode clinging with the famous story “crawl”.
(You know, “It was a period of civil war, rebel space ships striking from a hidden fortress…)

In those days, Star Wars possessed me like Pazuzu possessed Reagan. I collected toys, action figures, and school stuff, almost everything about Star Wars. But then, another sci-fi adventure comes marching into town, Battlestar Galactica.

Yes, it’s around 1978-79 where Battlestar Galactica’s movie version was shown with “Sensuround.” The sci-fi had a nice; Moses delivered his people from Egypt-like plot and cool space ships. But for me, it lacks the magic only Star Wars could deliver.

One time, I’ve even read an article from an old magazine about the comparison of Star Wars to that of Battlestar Galactica. The article was titled “Star Wars versus Galactica.”
The article ended with a question; what if Star Wars with all of its pilots and heroes pits against Battlestar Galactica?
Who will win such inter-galactic bout?

I’m not sure whether the writer implies the story or the costume, special effects or the overall aesthetics of the two movies, but I do entertain in my fancy a great space battle, fought out by stellar ships and giant dreadnaught star vessels: even a confrontation between Darth Vader and Imperious leader, or a grim conference between Commander Adama and Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi.

Today, I’m still a Star Wars fan…But not as an over zealot like I’ve always been. As time goes by, I could see the folly of Star Wars, especially when the sequels came and the prequels were revealed.

Still, I wonder: what would it will look like if Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica had a terrifying and savage space conflict?
Now, these wonders can be achieved; thanks to 3D computer arts. Such spectacular speculations can now be viewed…

(I would like to remind fans of both shows that this blog is not intended to create hostilities between the two. It’s just a blog that satisfies my curiosity when I was a kid.
Since I can now, somewhat create things in 3D through virtual models free from the internet.)
